Mom's Away? I Got This. - Day #3 11/02/17

Dearest Jennifer, we’ve made it through yet another day and while we’ve been enjoying the above normal temperatures for early November, we did run into our first “uh-oh” of the week. This morning Rowan discovered he’d run out of clean underpants. Yikes! Didn’t see that coming. There just always seem to be clean underwear appearing in the drawers up until now. I don’t know what happened? BUT, faster than you can say “dirty skid mark” that kid put his brain to use and had the smarts to recycle a pair he’d worn earlier in the week. How clever! I’m totally impressed by his resourcefulness and just know that that kid is destined for some great things when he grows up. We realized today, with Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday’s leftovers, he’s good to go until at least Saturday on underwear. We’re literally saving the planet here.
In other big news, as you know, today is Rowan’s birthday! He is turning 12. This morning when I woke up, I looked around on the kitchen counter to see if you had left any directions on how to make sure that happened. It occurred to me that you’d been here running birthdays for all these years up until now that I didn’t know if I was supposed to flick a switch or something. But as far as I can tell, I’m pretty sure he did turn 12 today. Although he doesn’t look much different from the 11 he was yesterday, the maturity shown in the underwear decision has me thinking he’s definitely a year older. Also, speaking of laundry, you know those 4 piles you had folded up so carefully and left on the dining room table the night before you left? Yes, well don’t worry. No one has messed with them. They’re still sitting there for when you get home tomorrow night. Didn’t want you to worry and think we’d gone and moved things around or put anything away. Love you!
