Hard Sun

My goal for this weekend is to get in one more epic beach day on Saturday with my family. With Pearl Jam at Fenway on Sunday night, whatever I do Sunday will be cut a little short to get into town for that, so Saturday is the day.

While it might be a little soon to start looking at this weekend's weather, I like to get a jump on what I can expect. In fact, during the summer months, the first thing I usually do on Monday morning when faced with the reality of a fresh five day work week is to look at the following weekend's forecast to start mentally making plans. Check the weather. Check the tides. Check the surf report.

And today is Tuesday, so it's not that far off and with Friday being a half day at work, which will be slow, and I'm sure many folks will be off, that will probably feel like a nothing day so this week's Thursday will kind of feel like Friday, which practically makes today Wednesday. You get what I'm saying? It's almost the weekend.

Saturday isn't looking spectacular. Low 70's, which is not hot. While that may sound good in the midst of a heatwave today and tomorrow, it's not ideal beach temp.

The good news is that they're not calling for any rain. BUT, there does appear to be some cloud covering competing with sun. Depending on which weather app you follow, there are some that give reason to be cautiously optimistic that Saturday, while cool, will still be a decent beach day.

Accuweather - I like the way these guys think. They're calling for "times of clouds and sun". I can deal with this. That is up there with "partly sunny" or "partly cloudy". Apparently they mean the same thing and are used interchangeably but no matter how you slice it, it's like admitting to the fact that "hey, sometimes there are clouds in the sky on an otherwise sunny day". Which is ok. And look, even their graphic shows more sun than clouds. I'm feeling good here.

Weather.com - They're kind of bumming me out and calling for straight up cloudy. Even their graphic for the day is grim. I don't want to party with weather.com.

Wunderground - These people are followers not leaders and they should be penalized by google for duplicate content. This forecast is bogus.

Weatherbug.com - A lesser known weather app, at least they're being original with their forecast for Saturday and not calling for complete cloud cover. Hey, they might be wrong, but at least they're going with the power of positivity here.

I am an optimist. And while I cut into Wunderground for their unoriginal "cloudy" forecast, it's quite possible that they, along with weather.com, are onto something and Saturday will not turn out to be the greatest weather for an epic beach day.

But until I wake up Saturday morning, I am going following suit with weatherbug, com and accuweather and riding the power of positivity wave, hoping to usher in a big hard sun.
